2013 was a big year for Rush. A big tour that both fans and critics praised and the long awaited induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Today we look back at their 2013 show at Mohegan Sun.

About The Tour:

In 2012 Rush announced its “Clockwork Angels Tour” in support of its twentieth- and final – studio album, “Clockwork Angels.” The year-long tour kicked off on September 7, 2012 in Manchester, New Hampshire and would go on to play 73 cities world wide before ending the tour in Kansas City in August 2013. Rush would visit Connecticut twice on the tour: Bridgeport’s Webster Bank Arena in October 2012 and then Mohegan Sun Arena in May 2013. Both sold out shows.

This highly acclaimed tour featured a nine-piece string ensemble that accompanied Rush during the band’s second set, which highlighted songs off “Clockwork Angels.”

The show at Mohegan Sun Arena was just three weeks after Rush was (finally) inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Fans of the Canadian trio celebrated as their rock heroes gave them a three hour performance consisting of new and classic Rush songs.

Thursday, May 7: Employment Attorney Bob Mitchell Helps the Tribe, Jimmy Koplik on Concerts in 2020, AJ Begins “Miles for Masks”

A recap of Governor Lamont’s call yesterday, and his thoughts on which businesses can begin opening during each phase. Plus, the crew is frustrated with the sanitizing process of their groceries. (0:00)

Scot Haney was on for an early weekend forecast (which might include snow!?) and talks about the antibody test for COVID-19. (11:44)

Employment attorney Bob Mitchell was on to help the Tribe through some confusion and uncertainty. He also answers a frequently asked question, “what happens if I’m collecting unemployment and have to go back to work?” (19:22)

Bob from Labonne’s Market explains the meat shortage, and how long it could affect consumers. (37:06)

Live Nation’s Jimmy Koplik did not have any news to break, but he did explain how concerts in 2020 could work, if they are given the green light by Governor Lamont. Plus, some shows for the summer have still not been canceled or rescheduled, so what does that mean for people who bought tickets? (52:08)

AJ begins his 24 hour biking marathon for “Miles for Masks,” despite sounding extremely unprepared for what’s ahead. Plus, Bob Stefanowski was on to explain how Masks for CT are helping a lot of people who still cannot find the masks they need. (1:12:20)

John Foley, naval aviator with the Blue Angels was on to help AJ through his 24 hour “Miles for Masks.” John also explained the “spud locker” and shared a story about the time he thought he was absolutely going to die. (1:24:05)

Beth the cyclist and trainer was back on to encourage AJ, despite not taking any of her advice from her previous call this week. (1:36:03)

Throwback Concert: Nickelback w/ Bush and Seether at XL Center 2012

Say what you want about Nickelback, but you can’t deny that they will fill the seats of an arena and give you a solid rock n’ roll show. That’s exactly what happened in 2012 when they came to Hartford’s XL Center with special guests Bush, Seether and My Darkest Days.

About The Tour:

In January 2012 Nickelback announced a big 49 city North American arena tour in support of its seventh studio album, Here and Now. Joining Nickelback on the tour are special guests and fellow rockers Bush, Seether and My Darkest Days. The tour kicked off in Moline, Illinois on April 10th and would make a stop in Hartford on April 27th.

The show at The XL Center opened with My Darkest Days, a band from Canada who were first discovered by Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger. Their lead singer, Matt Walst, would go on to be the new lead singer of Three Days Grace in 2013.

Seether took the stage and played an 8-song set that included their hit songs Fine Again, Rise Above This and Remedy. They also played a couple new songs, Tonight and Country Song, off their 2011 album, Holding Onto Strings Better Left to Fray.

Veteran rockers Bush followed with a heavy dose of 90s hits plus a couple new songs off their 2011 release, The Sea of Memories. Bush’s high energy show got the XL Center crowd ready for the headliner, Nickelback.

Nickelback didn’t waste time in unleashing a new song off Here and Now as they opened their 90-minute set with their new single, This Means War. What followed was barrage of hits performed on two stages, one of which was a rotating stage in the middle of the XL Center floor. Along with the music, the Nickelback stage show also featured a large video screen, flamethrowers and t-shirt cannons, much to the enjoyment of the thousands in attendance.
