Just like every other band in the world, COVID-19 has affected Iron Maiden’s touring plans for 2020. In fact according to the band’s manager Rod Smallwood, Iron Maiden will not play live again until June 2021. A whole year!
So while we all wait for these heavy metal rockers to hit the road again, we look back to 2006 when Iron Maiden opened its “A Matter of Life and Death” World Tour in Connecticut.
Iron Maiden
A Matter of Life and Death Tour
Special Guest: Bullet For My Valentine
Wednesday October 4, 2006
The XFINITY Theatre – Hartford, CT
About The Tour:
Iron Maiden headed out on the road in 2006 to support its fourteenth studio album, “A Matter of Life and Death.” This was a unique tour as Iron Maiden played the new album in its entirety and followed it up with five classic Maiden songs. For casual fans, this probably wasn’t ideal, but for the die hards and fans of the new album, you couldn’t ask for a better set.
The tour kicked off at Hartford’s XFINITY Theatre (then called The New England Dodge Music Center) on October 4, 2006. It’s been a number of years since Iron Maiden had started a tour in the United States so for fans here in America, this was extra special. The band had arrived in Connecticut a few days earlier to prepare for the opening night of the tour. Turns out Iron Maiden really liked playing Hartford as this was their fourth show in six years at The XFINITY Theatre.
After the Hartford show, Iron Maiden played 59 more shows on the tour, which made stops in North America, Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
Below is the set list from The XFINITY Theatre show.

About The Tour:
On April 29, 2010 the Blackdiamondskye Tour was announced after a series of videos were posted on YouTube followed by a countdown to the announcement. The bands involved – Alice In Chains with special guests Deftones and Mastodon – called the tour Blackdiamondskye after each of the band’s most then-most recent albums: Alice In Chains “Black Gives Way to Blue,” Deftones’ “Diamond Eyes,” and Mostodon’s “Crack the Skye.” The Alice In Chains album “Black Gives Way To Blue” was the band’s first studio album to feature new vocalist William Duvall.
The 19-city North American tour kicked off in Chicago on September 16, 2010 and wrapped up in Nevada exactly a month later. The fourth show into the tour was at Mohegan Sun Arena. Below is the setlist from that show.

Last week the Milford Oyster Festival’s Board of Directors made the very difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Oyster Festival due to COVID-19. The festival was scheduled for Saturday, August 15th.
Jay Pinto, President of the Milford Oyster Festival, stated the following in a press release: “The safety of our dedicated festival goers, vendors, sponsors, volunteers and surrounding community always has been, and will remain our primary concern. Having closely monitored the progress of Federal, State and local guidelines and after much discussion and hope that the Festival could be possible, we know this is the right decision as we all do our part to stop this disruptive virus.”
Though we’re all sad this year’s festival isn’t happening, we can look forward to next year’s festival on Saturday August 21, 2021. We can also reflect on past Oyster Festivals, like the memorable time we had with Eddie Money in 2018.

with John Cafferty and The Beaver Brown Band
Special Guest: Mark C. Daniel & The Free Radicals
Saturday August 18, 2018
Milford Oyster Festival’s Fowler Field – Milford, Connecticut
About The Show:
On May 10, 2018 it was announced on 99.1 PLR’s Chaz and AJ In The Morning that Eddie Money will headline the 2018 Milford Oyster Festival with John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band. It marked first time in the 44 year history of the Milford Oyster Festival that there would be two headliners on the main stage.
Prior to the show, Eddie Money told Chaz and AJ in a radio interview, “I can’t wait to get to Connecticut and play all the hits!”
And that he did.
Over 50,000 people attended the 2018 Milford Oyster Festival on what was a beautiful day. But the weather wasn’t the only thing that helped attract such a huge crowd. Eddie Money was in town.
Sadly, Eddie would pass away a little over a year later on September 13, 2019 from esophageal cancer. But the memories of his performance and all the great songs in his legendary career will live on forever.
Listen to Chaz and AJ’s Interview with Eddie Money.
