Throwback Concert: Dave Matthews Band at The XFINITY Theatre 2001

It’s hard to imagine a summer without Dave Matthews Band at The XFINITY Theatre. Since 1995, there have been only 3 summers that DMB didn’t play in Hartford: 2011, 2017 and 2020.

Today we look back at DMB’s 2001 summer tour that came to The XFINITY Theatre on back-to-back nights in early August. Below is the setlist from their first night in Hartford.

Dumb Ass News – Since Chaz and AJ will be on vacation next week, and they cannot celebrate the 4th of July with their usual display, a montage of past “Buttle Rocket” celebrations. (19:06)

Fun Fact! The Tribe was given the green light to call in about anything, as long as they began their call with “Fun Fact.” Learn about the mating habits of octopuses, the testing process for Samsung phones, and boring geography from WPLR Program Director Allan Lamberti. (25:27)

Boss Keith’s Top 5 this week was about “constant arguments” he has with people about things that do not matter, at all. (38:13)

Throwback Concert: AC/DC at Madison Square Garden 2016

In 2016 AC/DC lead singer Brian Johnson was ordered by his doctors to stop touring immediately or he’d lose his hearing. Pretty serious.

AC/DC was in the middle of its “Rock or Bust World Tour,” and after learning of this news about Brian, the band was forced to postpone the remainder of the tour.

But the postponement didn’t last long as the band recruited a new lead singer: Axl Rose of Guns N’ Roses. Axl would finish the remainder of the 2016 tour, which included a show at New York’s Madison Square Garden in September, originally scheduled in April.

Mighty John the Record Guy was on to help the Tribe find some valuable pieces in their collection. First, he broke Jennifer’s heart by admitting she probably overpaid for some Beatles albums she picked up for Chaz and told her she should’ve selected another record. (3:36)

Jimmy Koplik gives an update on the state of concerts in Connecticut, and tries to pick the next big rockstar movie we haven’t seen yet. (8:55)

Bob Leary from Trimino Water was on to talk about tonight’s Chaz and AJ Hine Bros. Truck Group Stand Up for Vets, and the matching donation he’s willing to make. (31:01)

Adam Keys is a veteran and former recipient of a vehicle provided by Help Our Military Heroes, and now is trying to get into comedy. He was on to share his story, how much having a vehicle has helped him, and what to expect from his segment during tonight’s virtual event. (36:20)
