99.1 PLR celebrates 50 years! This week we are celebrating another great year in our history: 1999!
That year PLR held its annual Memorial Day Concert at historic Yale Field, home of baseball’s New Haven Ravens. The headliner was Blue Öyster Cult, who were out supporting their thirteenth studio album, Heaven Forbid, which was released the year before in 1998. It was their first studio album with new material in a decade.
Also on the bill at Yale Field were Indigenous, a blues-rock band from South Dakota that had a big New Haven following thanks to PLR, and classic rockers NRBQ.
Today we look back at our 1999 concert at Yale Field….

Tony Spera, the son-in-law to Ed and Lorraine Warren, was on the phone to share a story he’s never told Chaz and AJ before. A demonic idol found in the woods of Connecticut, and the high priest that created it. (16:42)
Attorney Norm Pattis was on to talk about two cases he’s been heavily involved with, both of which are being made into movies this summer. Chaz and AJ asked him about his relationship with Fotis Dulos, and the Manhattan Madam. (25:10)

That year PLR welcomed The Rolling Stones to Hartford’s XL Center (formerly called the Hartford Civic Center) for two shows on back-to-back nights. The Stones were on their “No Security” Tour to support the live album “No Security,” which featured live recordings of their “Bridges To Babylon” Tour in 1997-98. Several different bands opened for The Stones on the “No Security” Tour, including Bryan Adams, Jonny Lang and Sugar Ray. In Hartford, the Goo Goo Dolls were the supporting act.
Interesting note: On the very same night of The Stones’ second show in Hartford, the UConn Men’s Basketball team had captured its first NCAA National Championship down in Tampa, Florida. The Huskies beat Duke 77-74 creating a party-like atmosphere around Hartford that night.
Today we look back at both nights of The Rolling Stones in Hartford in 1999…
