PODCAST – Friday, June 18: Not-So-Great Dad Moments; Naked Skydiving; The Week In Flubbles

For Father’s Day, Chaz and AJ decided to ask the Tribe to share the not-so-great moments of fatherhood. There were some lies about ice cream trucks, horror stories about puking infants, and one dad who used a Jersey barrier as an emergency bathroom. (0:00)

Scot Haney has an engagement party to attend this weekend, and admitted that he feels obligated to give a big gift, since he is godfather to the groom. (35:20)

50 Years, 50 Albums 1992: Stone Temple Pilots ‘Core’

50 Years, 50 Albums 1992: Stone Temple Pilots ‘Core’

Once again it comes as no surprise that the debut album from Stone Temple Pilots Core came in with the most votes in this week’s 50 Years, 50 Albums. Formed in San Diego in 1989, Scott Weiland, the DeLeo brothers and Eric Kretz set out to make an album reviving the album-oriented era where you just don’t listen to a song but to the whole album. That’s exactly what you get with Core, their best-selling album certified 8x Platinum in 2001. Not bad for a debut album. At a time when Grunge and Alternative ruled, their straight rock sound gave us five incredible singles from that album that have become Rock Radio staples, especially at this station, separating them from the band’s north of them. We are proud to welcome Stone Temple Pilot’s debut album Core into the WPLR Hall of Fame.
