99.1 PLR celebrates 50 years! This week we are celebrating another great year in our history: 1991!
That year PLR welcomed Queensrÿche at Hartford’s XL Center (then called Hartford Civic Center). Queensrÿche hit the road for its “Building Empires” Tour and brought special guest Suicidal Tendencies with them. Queensrÿche was supporting its fourth full-length studio album, “Empire,” which featured a bunch of hits including Empire, Silent Lucidity, Jet City Woman, Another Rainy Night (Without You), Anybody Listening? and Best I Can.
The tour’s setlist consisted of the band performing the album “Operation: Mindcrime” in full. Their show at the XL Center was the final stop on the first leg of the North American Tour and their last show before the big “Monsters of Rock” tour across Europe.
Today we revisit Queensrÿche’s 1991 concert in Hartford…
