99.1 PLR celebrates 50 years! This week we are celebrating another great year in our history: 2004!
By 2004 there weren’t many options for concerts in New Haven. The Coliseum closed two years earlier and the old Palace Theater on College Street was boarded up. Sure clubs like Café Nine, Rudy’s and BAR were bringing in their own acts, but it was Toad’s Place that was brining in the big names. 2004 saw artists like Buddy Guy, Hootie & The Blowfish, They Might Be Giants, Little Feat, Patti Smith and Big Head Todd and the Monsters grace the legendary stage at Toad’s.
That year Living Colour, a WPLR favorite since the late 80s, rocked Toad’s Place. Today we look back at that show…
